Born in the Netherlands in 1965, Patricia began seriously pursuing her career in fine art in 1999. She moved to the Bay of Plenty, NZ in 2005 and has been working there ever since.

 

Patricia's style has often been termed 'neo-surrealist,' due to the graphic-like quality of her paintings. Her works are completely hand-painted, the subjects rendered faultlessly with crisp lines and impeccable detail. Many of her landscapes feature everyday objects or buildings re-contextalised in playful alternate reality settings.  A suggestion of the impossible is constantly present in Patricia's work; achieved by her love of purely imagined forms. 

 

Patricia's latest series, 'Unveiled,' pinpoints familiar human characteristics and paints them as refreshingly positive statements of individualism. These landscapes are thought-provoking metaphors where trees are used to personify the endless roles we inhabit throughout our lifetimes. Patricia encourages the viewer to compose their own meanings from her paintings, and believes that the universiality of these subjects will prompt people to identify fragments of themselves in her work.
