Asian Artists Show
11/14-01/15
With this exhibition, visitors to the gallery are invited to engage with rich artistic styles normally exhibited half a world away. Celebrated in their home city of Shanghai, the charisma of these artworks is not lost in translation – they retain a striking vivacity that resonates with any audience.
Folk Art
Oftentimes scenes of nature and farming or domestic settings serve as the inspiration for these brightly coloured murals. The style integrates a number of different techniques; namely embroidery, paper cutting, blue ink on cloth, sculpture and lacquer painting.
These celebrated 'peasant paintings' have won the attention of the art world and public alike with their bold exaggerated style and idyllic interpretations of country life.
